The position of Deputy Chief Editor (DCE) of Acta Obtetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica (AOGS) will be vacant from October 1st 2024 for a period of 4 years The initial appointment of the DCE will be for two years with a possibility for extension after evaluation of the performance.
AOGS is the journal of the Nordic Federation of Societies of Obstetrics and Gynecology (NFOG). It is one of the oldest journals in our specialty (founded in 1921) with its own legacy and a solid fundament. The journal has during the recent years undergone a series of changes to improve its quality, impact and visibility and since 2022 is an Open Access publication. Its current impact factor (IF) is 3.5. It has a distinguished International Editorial Board and a world-wide distribution and readership.
The Deputy Chief Editor will assist the Chief Editor (CE) in all editorial matters and will be expected to advance the position and reputation of AOGS internationally working in close collaboration with other Editors and the publisher (currently Wiley-Blackwell), and with the support of the NFOG Board. We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated professionally active Obstetrician and Gynecologist with documented scientific, academic and clinical credentials. Previous editorial experience at an international level would be an advantage. She/he is expected to handle the manuscripts assigned to him by the Chief Editor, cover his vacation (5 weeks per year) and any other absences (e.g. sick leave), attend two editorial board meetings per year and participate and contribute in the educational activities organized for the editors. Prospective applicants should be prepared to devote the equivalent of 20 % (8 hours a week) of a full-time position to the journal. The NFOG will compensate for this work with an honorarium of 200 000 DKK (approximately, 26800 EUR or 30000 USD) per year. Additionally, the DCE will be reimbursed for traveling expenses to attend two editorial board meetings per year and up to 30000 DKK per year to attend professional meetings/conferences and for expenses related to editorial work. Conditions of this compensation will be discussed and terms of the payment of honorarium/salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant before signing a contract.
